This site is done through the inspiration of Dr Nicol Alberts and Linda Crabtree. And the power that God gives us.

It is to give much needed info to the CMT people and a place where we can Blog, have Forum discussions, send Newsletters, basically a Home for CMTers in South Africa.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), known also as Hereditary Motor and Sensory Neuropathy (HMSN), is an inherited disorder of nerves (neuropathy) that takes different forms. It is characterized by loss of muscle tissue and touch sensation, predominantly in the feet and legs but also in the hands and arms in the advanced stages of disease. Presently incurable, this disease is one of the most common inherited neurological disorders, with 1 in 2500 affected.

With South Africa's 50 million population, there should be 20 000 people affected, yet just about no one knows about CMT. (JWRoux 2010)
